(BCN) – Power has been restored this evening to thousands of customers in the Monterey Bay area, a PG&E spokeswoman said.
The outage involving about 6,000 customers was reported at about 4:30 p.m. and crews restored power within 80 minutes, spokeswoman Hailey Wilson said.
What’s left is a smattering of outages, Wilson said.
Across the San Francisco Bay and Monterey Bay areas today, 53,197 customers have lost power. As of 5 p.m. power has been restored to about 38,000.
Wilson said it’s hard to say when power to everyone will be restored because as crews restore power to some, the wind knocks out power to others.
PG&E officials are asking people to assume a downed wire is live, to stay away and keep others away. People should call 911 and then PG&E at (800) 743-5002 if they can.
