On March 18, 2019, San Pablo Police Officers responded to the Starbucks after one of the employees called asking for assistance with a suspicious vehicle.
Following a conversation with the Starbucks employee, Officers spoke with a man and Ms. Tamayo. Based on the conversation with the Starbucks employee, our officers believed Ms. Tamayo was not allowed to be inside the business. Our officer asked her to leave the establishment and she verbally resisted that order. Following several minutes of conversation aimed at a peaceful resolution of the situation, our officer spoke again with the employee and it was at this point he learned that Ms. Tamayo was not the banned individual.
What followed was an immediate apology by our officer to Ms. Tamayo. That apology was met by a demand from Ms. Tamayo that the officers arrest her. There was no reason to take that action.
A body worn camera captured this incident and shows Ms Tamayo verbally resisting a lawful order to leave the establishment, the explanation by the employee, and the apology by our officer. That video is available here for public to view.
The event ended without incident.Posted by San Pablo Police Department on Wednesday, April 17, 2019
