There was heavy police activity in Oakland Friday morning as officers searched for a wanted suspect.
At around 3 a.m., an officer tried to arrest a suspicious person in the 2300 block of East 17th Street, according to the Oakland Police Department.
The suspect ran away and a chase ensued.
During the pursuit, the man shot at the officer, police said.
The officers was not struck and did not shoot back at the suspect.
OPD says the search of the area has ended.
They recovered a firearm and the investigation will continue.
