SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The San Francisco Police Department announced that a sobriety checkpoint will be put in place for Friday night in San Francisco.
The police department’s Traffic Unit will be conducting the checkpoint in an undisclosed location between 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Nationally, the latest data shows nearly 10,000 were killed by an impaired driver, according to police.
DUI checkpoints are proven to reduce the number of people killed and injured in alcohol and drug involved crashes.
“With all the different modes of transportation offered around the city there is no excuse to drive while intoxicated,” said Officer Giselle Talkoff of
the SFPD.
Police are also reminding residents to report drunk drivers by calling 9-1-1.
