PACIFICA (KRON/BCN) — A 24-year-old man was arrested Saturday night suspected of driving under the influence, being involved in two hit-and-run crashes, and being in possession of illegal weapons, Pacifica police said Monday.

Investigators said they first received a report of a hit-and-run in the 300 block of Brighton Road at about 10:45 p.m. on Saturday. A short time later, they were called to a second hit-and-run in the 2500 block of Francisco Boulevard.

Witnesses gave officers a description of the vehicle involved in the crashes and told investigators that the driver was swerving in the roadway, police said.

During the investigation, one officer noticed a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle headed south on state Highway 1 near Reina Del Mar Avenue.

The vehicle had major damage and had sparks emanating from it, according to police.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver, Anthony Burke of Pacifica was intoxicated, according to police.

An ambulance took Burke to a hospital for evaluation, police said.

After doctors gave Burke medical clearance, officers took him to San Mateo County Jail where he was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over .08 percent, hit-and-run, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a shuriken and possession of a billy club.

Investigators said seven parked vehicles were damaged in the hit-and-runs. There were no reports of injuries.
