An Antioch police officer delivered a baby at a home on Thursday, according to the department’s Facebook page.
Officers and paramedics responded to a home on Cavallo Road, where they found a woman in the process of delivering a baby. That’s when Cpl. Green delivered a baby boy, police said.
The boy and mother were taken to the hospital and are in good health.
Officers bought baby gifts and visited the new mom at the hospital.
“Corporal Green shared with the new mother that he had experienced the death of a close family friend earlier in the day and it was surreal to help bring life into the world that same day,” police said on Facebook. “Police officers never know what the next call can bring and Thursday night was no exception for Corporal Green and Officer Moraga.”
