Police: New Yale grad stabs fellow student, jumps to death

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (KRON/AP) – Investigators say a 21-year-old man who graduated from Yale University earlier this month stabbed a fellow student at an off-campus apartment building and then jumped to his death from the ninth floor of the building.

New Haven police say it happened around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at an apartment complex across the street from the Ivy League campus.

Officials say the suspect fell six stories onto a third-floor terrace. Yale said in a statement the man was identified by police as Tyler Carlisle, who graduated this year.

Authorities say 21-year-old victim Alexander Michaud is in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Police say the men were acquaintances but declined to elaborate. Their Facebook pages say both are from Manchester, New Hampshire.

Investigators haven’t released details of what happened before the stabbing and jump.
