A mother has abducted her two children during a supervised visit at a San Jose park on Friday afternoon, police said.
At around 5:22 p.m., police responded to a welfare check at Emma Prusch Park, located at 647 South King Rd. in East San Jose. A Child Protective Service social worker was supervising a visit between a mother and her two children, a 1-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter.
After the CPS worker took the 11-year-old girl to the restroom, the baby boy and mom disappeared, police said.
“The Social Worker took the 11-year-old girl to the restroom and when she exited the restroom, the mother was gone with the 1-year-old boy. While the Social Worker was looking for the mother (suspect) and 1-year-old boy, the 11-year-old girl went missing. Both victims are believed to be with the suspect,” police said.
The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Diana Moreira, also known as Diana Moreira-Del Rio. She is Hispanic, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, has brown hair, brown eyes, a medium build, and was wearing a black tank top, along with black leggings with neon stripes.
The 11-year-old is Priscilla Penaloza. She is described as Hispanic, with light brown/blond hair with pink tips. She is 4 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 80 pounds, and was wearing a green jacket with fur on the hood, along with black Adidas pants.
The 1-year-old is Alexander Penaloza. He has black hair, is 20 1/2 inches tall, weighs about 24 pounds, and was wearing a gray puffy coat, along with blue jeans and black vans.
Moreira may be driving a gray minivan or SUV.
