Police: Man tries to rape woman, threatens to kill her in Rohnert Park

A man was arrested for allegedly trying to rape and threatening to kill a 25-year-old woman in Rohnert Park Thursday.

Public Safety officers received the call around 3:22 a.m. from a woman who said she was being held captive at an apartment complex on Joanne Court.

The woman went to Sergio Heredia-Trujillo’s apartment Wednesday night around 10 p.m. to pick up books she let him borrow.

She told police Heredia-Trujillo would not let her leave and forced her to take her shirt off.

Authorities say while attempting to rape her, he threatened her with a knife and told her if she did not stay quiet, he would kill her.

At one point, she says he pulled her pants down and ripped her underwear off of her.

She also described him choking her and bitting her neck while pinning her to the bed.

The victim was able to escape. She ran and knocked on neighbors doors, but no one answered.

She made her way to her car, but Heredia-Trujillo was there waiting for her.

The victim managed to get away and went to another apartment where she used a resident’s phone to call police.

When officers got to the apartment building, they received another call of a man on Joanne Court smashing a window of a parked car.

Officials spotted Heredia-Trujillo heading back towards his apartment and noticed he matched the description of the man from the second call.

Officers took Heredia-Trujillo into custody and found the victim’s ripped underwear and cell phone in his pocket, along with broken glass suspected to be from broken car windows.

Six cars were found in the area with smashed windows.

According to officials Heredia-Trujillo showed signs of alcohol intoxication when he was taken in.

The victim and Heredia-Trujillo did not have a relationship, other than being an acquaintance, detectives say.

Rohnert Park Detectives obtained a search warrant for Heredia-Trujillo’s apartment where they found the described knife, the victims shirt and a piece of her ripped underwear.

Heredia-Trujillo was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of Assault with Intent to Commit Rape, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, False Imprisonment, Kidnapping, and Sexual Battery where he is being held on $50,000 bail.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Rohnert Park Detectives at (707)584-2630 or rpdpsinvestigations@rpcity.org.
