Santa Rosa police have arrested a 21-year-old man for vandalizing two North Bay schools on Friday, officers said.

At around 7:25 a.m., police were called to Jack London Elementary School on a report of vandalism in progress. An off-duty officer saw a white Chevrolet pickup truck driving recklessly across the sports fields of the school.

Police say the truck was doing donuts and tearing up the field. When officers arrived, the suspect was gone.

A similar incident happened at Piner High School shortly after. A second witness told police a truck was tearing up the field.

An officer spotted the truck driving south on Fulton Road, leaving the high school. The driver pulled over into a Raley’s shopping center and tried to walk away from the truck but police detained him.

The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Buck Christopher Knell Jr., of Oakley. While searching Knell, police found a loaded revolver and cocaine.

In Knell’s truck, police say they found more cocaine, drug packing materials, and other evidence of drug trafficking sales.

Knell told police he was just trying to “let loose” and “have a little fun.” He also told police he attended both Jack London and Piner High School.

Knell was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for two counts of felony vandalism, one count of having narcotics for sale, one count of transporting cocaine, one count of being armed while dealing narcotics, and one count of an addict being in possession of a firearm.
