MARIN COUNTY (KRON) — Police in Marin County are investigating Saturday after finding human remains Friday night, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 6:00 p.m. Friday, Sheriff’s officials received reports of a body dumped on Platform Bridge Road between Sir Francis Drake Blvd. and Petaluma Pt. Reyes Road, Marin County Sheriff’s Lt. Doug Pittman said.

The land is in an unincorporated part of the county, which is operated by the National Park Service, according to Point Reyes National Seashore spokesman John Dell’Osso.

The remote Marin County road is within the Point Reyes National Seashore Park.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, and National Parks Service searched for evidence in the area.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide.

The road was closed for several hours, but reopened around 3 p.m.

FBI investigators are expected to remove the remains later this afternoon, and will work with the Marin County Coroner to determine the victim’s identity and how they died, Dell’Osso said.

The situation poses no threat to the public, authorities said.
