The Vallejo Police Department is investigating several armed robberies that occurred Friday morning and one of the incidents was caught on camera.
At approximately 7:06 a.m. officers received a report of an armed robbery that happened on the 2300 block of Springs Road.
A witness told police that a man fled onto the grounds of Vallejo Charter School at 2833 Tennessee Street and was on the roof of the building, authorities say.
As a result, the school was placed on lockdown and all employees were asked to leave the building. As officers searched the property, the suspect ran from the unoccupied school building.
He refused to adhere to officer’s commands to stop and was arrested with the assistance of a police K9.
The incident was one of three armed robberies in Vallejo that occurred in the same vicinity within a 90-minute time frame.
Surveillance video captured the second robbery which happened around 7:30 a.m. at a Chevron gas station on Springs Road.
Then at 8 a.m., a woman witnessed an armed robber enter the Ihaw Ihaw restaurant at 40 Springstowne Center.
“He was wearing a mask. You only see his eyes,” Mylen Nicdao said. “Then he pulled a gun out and said to us ‘hold up.'”
An off-duty officer, who was having breakfast at the restaurant, wrestled the suspect to the ground and detained him until police arrived.
Investigators are working to determine if the three robberies are connected.
