Police investigate credit card fraud cases originating from San Anselmo gas station

SAN ANSELMO (KRON) — Police in San Anselmo are investigating a series of credit card fraud cases that appear to have originated from a gas station, police said.

Central Marine Police said they have received several reports of credit or debit card information being accessed and money taken from accounts. Investigators said all the cards were used at a Gas and Shop at 750 Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

Police said skimmers were used to steal the information. The devices are no longer at the pumps, police said.

More than 20 victims have come forward to police.

Police said many cases have occurred throughout the North Bay. If you think you might be a victim, police are asking you to call them at 415.927.5150.

To avoid being a victim of this type of crime, police said to pay for gas inside the station rather than at the pump, or you can use cash.

They also suggest regularly monitoring your bank statements for any unusual activity.
