Police in Watsonville seek carjacking suspects

WATSONVILLE (BCN)–Police are seeking two suspects who allegedly carjacked a vehicle Friday night in Watsonville and ordered the driver to get inside the vehicle’s trunk at gunpoint.

At around 6 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report regarding a man who had been carjacked the previous night on Union Street, between East Front Street and Riverside Drive at about 9:30 p.m., according to police.

The victim told police he was sitting in his car, texting on his cellphone, when the two suspects approached him. The pair entered the car, with one suspect in the right front seat and the other in the back seat, police said.

The suspects then ordered the victim into the vehicle’s trunk. The pair drove around for several hours, while the victim remained in the trunk. The suspects then let the victim out near the area of East Lake Avenue and Carlton Road, police said.

The suspects fled in the stolen car. The victim went to a nearby market to call police.

Police were able to locate and recover the stolen vehicle on Carlton Road, not far from where the victim was released, police said.

Police described the first suspect as a Hispanic man who wore dark clothing and was armed with a gun. Police described the second suspect as a Hispanic man who also wore dark clothing.
