PETALUMA (BCN) — Police arrested a 43-year-old man suspected of driving while drunk, for the third time, this morning in Petaluma.

At 6:59 a.m., officers responded to a report from an off-duty firefighter, saying they were following a potential drunk driver near Petaluma Boulevard North and Stony Point Road, according to police.

The firefighter said the car, a white hatchback, was traveling south on Petaluma Boulevard North, swerving and driving on the shoulder of the roadway. The firefighter provided officers with a license plate number, police said.

Once officers arrived in the area, they located the car and conducted a traffic stop for suspicion of driving while under the influence, according to police.

Inside, they found the driver, identified as Narciso Roman of Petaluma, with an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

Roman was showing signs of intoxication and officer conducted field sobriety test, police said.

Officers arrested Roman on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. The officers also discovered this was Roman’s third arrest in the last 10 years on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

He was booked into Sonoma County Jail, with bail set at $50,000, according to police.
