Police find no active shooter in Bakersfield hospital

Officers searching Mercy Hospital Southwest in Bakersfield have not found any indication of a shooting.

Nearly three hours after a “Code Black” active shooter alarm sealed the hospital campus, police had found no shooter, no victims, no shell casings and no bullet holes.

An army of heavily armed officers were still searching the campus, at Old River Road just west of Cal State Bakersfield as of 10:45 p.m.

Some patients had barricaded themselves in their rooms as police warned them to shelter in place.

Officers were busy with the search and had not called it off as of 10:45 — but they hadn’t found anything, either.
