Two separate robberies occurred outside of Pleasanton’s Stoneridge Mall this past weekend, where thieves are targeting high-end purses. The first incident occurred on Saturday, shortly after 8 p.m.
A 17-year-old female victim from Danville was with several other female companions near PF Chang’s in the parking lot of Stoneridge Mall where three male suspects approached her in an older model, Silver Honda Pilot.
The males got out of the vehicle and attempted to talk to the females. The latter continued to walk, resulting in one male grabbing the victim’s purse. She tried to wrestle the purse back, but the suspect struck her in the face with his fist, pushed her to the ground, and snatched the purse away. The males went back into their car and drove off toward Stoneridge Mall Road.
The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical aid. The three suspects are being described as black males between the ages of 18-25 years old with medium build and wearing dark-colored hoodies.
On Sunday afternoon, around 1:28 p.m., Pleasanton Police responded to another armed robbery in the parking lot of Stoneridge Mall. A 63-year-old female victim was standing by her car when three suspects approached her. One of them grabbed the victim’s purse and brandished either a rifle or shotgun as the victim tried to pull back on her purse.
The victim then fell to the ground, a suspect kicked her in the back and left the scene with her purse. The victim sustained minor injuries but did not go to the hospital.
The suspects left in the scene in a cream-colored Mercedes SUV and entered Westbound I-580, according to witnesses. The suspects were not located.
Anyone that has information on these incidents is being asked to call the Pleasanton Police Department at (925) 931-5100.
