WATSONVILLE (BCN) — A schoolteacher from Watsonville was arrested Tuesday in connection with a child pornography investigation.
Robert Krietzman, 51, a first grade school teacher at Martin Luther King Jr. Academy in the Alisal School District, was arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography.
On Tuesday at 10:15 a.m., members of the Santa Cruz Police Department, the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at Krietzman’s home on Hawthorne Avenue in Watsonville.
Investigators said a search of the residence yielded a significant amount of child pornography stored on computers. There was also child pornography located in Krietzman’s car, according to investigators.
During the investigation, detectives seized a number of images depicting prepubescent children involved in sexual acts, investigators said.
Law enforcement officials immediately notified school authorities of Krietzman’s alleged actions and arrest.
Investigators said Krietzman was identified as a source of child pornography files shared on a peer-to-peer network.
At this time, it does not appear the child pornography images are related to the school, but detectives are reviewing personal and school work computers Krietzman had access to, according to investigators.
Investigators said Alisal School District officials are being fully cooperative with the investigation, and school representatives took immediate action to remove Krietzman from the classroom.
