BERKELEY (KRON) — A man was arrested in Tennessee last week after police at the University of California at Berkeley identified him as the suspect in a 2011 sexual assault and robbery case, according to police.
Investigators identified Sheldon Harley Johnson, 24, as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest, according to police.
On April 8, 2011, a female UC Berkeley student was robbed and sexually assaulted on campus near Haviland Path, police said. After developing new leads in the case, Johnson was linked to the incident.
With assistance from the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Marshall’s Service and the FBI, police located Johnson in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
On March 19, police there arrested Johnson and he is currently waiting to be extradited back to California, according to police.
