AMERICAN CANYON (KRON)– A man who allegedly stole merchandise from a Wal-Mart and threatened a store employee with a baseball bat was arrested by American Canyon police Tuesday night.
A Wal-Mart employee caught a man leaving without paying for a shopping card full of merchandise, which included an aluminum baseball bat. The suspect allegedly grabbed the bat and threatened the store employee when he was confronted in the parking lot. The employee then called 9-1-1 as the suspect sped away in a 2012 Honda Civic with the stolen merchandise, according to police.
Officers stopped the car on Eucalyptus Drive and recovered $500 in merchandise, including the bat. Police then arrested Michael Austin Nicely, 36, of American Canyon.
Nicely was booked on suspicion of robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.
