SANTA ROSA (BCN) — Santa Rosa police arrested a man Friday on suspicion of stalking and intimidating a woman since May, a police sergeant said.

Nicholas Daniel Stiles, 37, of Santa Rosa, intimidated the woman and her family with vandalism, violations of a restraining order and trying to dissuade her in connection with an ongoing court case, Sgt. Terry Anderson said.

The couple had a dating relationship but no children together, Anderson said.

Police responded to 10 separate incidents Stiles was involved in or believed to be involved in since May, Anderson said.

Stiles tried to persuade the woman not to continue a vandalism case against him in which he allegedly damaged the woman’s car with a pickaxe in May, Anderson said.

He also was suspected of vandalizing a business belonging to the woman’s brother but the case was never proven, Anderson said.

Stiles also sent the woman texts after a restraining order was issued and at least once after he was arrested for violating the order, Anderson said.

Stiles was arrested today near his home in the 600 block of Summerfield Road. He was booked under $1 million bail in the Sonoma County Jail for stalking while a restraining order was in effect, dissuading a witness and committing a felony while on bail.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon in Sonoma County Superior Court.
