ROHNERT PARK (KRON/BCN) — Police arrested 19 people following a DUI checkpoint Saturday night in Rohnert Park.

The Department of Public Safety Traffic team was set up to conduct DUI and Driver’s License checks for eastbound drivers on Rohnert Park Expressway from 7 p.m. Saturday night to 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning, police said.

Over 1,300 drivers were screened and a total of 28 drivers were directed to a nearby parking lot for further investigation.

Five people were arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence, three were arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended license, eight were arrested on suspicion of driving without a license, two were arrested on suspicion of drug possession and one was arrested on suspicion of violation of probation, according to police.

All of the unlicensed drivers were allowed to get a license driver to come and drive their vehicle away in lieu of it being towed, with the exception of the drivers arrested on suspicion of DUI, police said.
