(BCn) – A man is in a hospital after suffering injuries to his face and torso in a stabbing late Friday night in Santa Cruz, police said.

Officers responded at 11:45 p.m. to the 7-Eleven store at 367 Ocean St. on a report of person with multiple injuries.

A 19-year-old man said he had been stabbed near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Center Street, according to police.

The man waived down a good Samaritan who began to drive the victim to the hospital, but the man’s injuries worsened and the Samaritan called 911.

The Samaritan stopped at the nearest parking lot where paramedics treated the man and took him to a hospital, police said.

Officers found evidence of a stabbing near Pacifica Avenue and Center Street.

Detectives are following leads and looking for video evidence, according to police.
