LOS ANGELES (AP) – Police are investigating the death of a horse that was found with its tail tied to a telephone pole in the San Fernando Valley and its head beaten or shot, or both.
Los Angeles police Officer Norma Eisenman says the horse was found in front of a home in a cul-de-sac in Sylmar Saturday morning.
She said the horse had blunt force trauma to the head, possibly from a gunshot, but a necropsy will determine the cause of death.
Det. Eric Bixler said it appeared someone tied the horse to the pole with a rope to unload it from a trailer or truck.
Bixler told City News Service unspecified evidence was left at the scene and that animal cruelty investigators believe they will be able to identify the suspect.
