PETALUMA (BCN) — Police on Wednesday apprehended a wanted man in Petaluma with the help of a police K-9.
At 3:32 p.m., an officer was patrolling in the 800 block of Petaluma Boulevard North when she observed Shane Dion Kee, 47, riding his bicycle toward her vehicle, police said. The officer was aware Kee had three outstanding warrants out for his arrest and had been arrested in the past for a weapons violation, police said.
The officer approached Kee and ordered him to stop, but Kee fled to a parking lot, dropped his bicycle and started running away on foot, police said.
The officer removed her canine partner Basko from her vehicle to help search for the suspect. Basko located Kee hiding under a truck in the parking lot.
The officer ordered Kee to surrender and show his hands several times, but he refused, so the officer used Basko to assist in Kee’s apprehension, police said.
Kee was treated for minor injuries he suffered during the apprehension, and he was arrested on the three outstanding warrants and on suspicion of resisting arrest.
