Police: Additional six South Bay victims claim sexual assault incidents by same suspect

SAN JOSE (KRON) — An additional six victims have spoken out to being sexually assaulted by the same man in the South Bay, according to the San Jose police.

According to police, Damou Evans of Morgan Hill has been connected to at least seven sexual assault cases within the South Bay and police believe there are more victims.


Authorities were first notified on July 19, of a sexual assault that occurred in San Jose. Evans was identified as the suspect, and he was already known to be a sex offender. The San Jose PD Megan’s Law/290 Team conducted an investigation and obtained an arrest and search warrant.

Police said on August 25, Evans was arrested by the SJPD’s Covert Response Unit, and the Megan’s Law/290 Team served a searched warrant at his residence.

According to investigators, between Aug. 25 and Oct. 31 an additional six victims contacted investigators speaking out in regards to sexual assaults by Evans.

SJPD investigators began working with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office on Nov. 9 and filed an amended complaint alleging the new offenses on behalf of the additional victims.

Evans has worked as a nightclub promoter in the South Bay, and investigators believe there are additional victims who have not come forward.

According to police, Evans is currently in custody and is facing a 19 felony counts of sexual assault.
