BERKELEY (KRON) — Two men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder in a Berkeley shooting that happened last summer, police announced Thursday.
Around 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, the Berkeley Police Special Response Team and Detectives served arrest warrants in Richmond and South San Francisco on two men wanted in connection with the July 29 shooting.
The shooting victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and his car was left partially submerged in the Berkeley Marina, according to the Berkeley Police Department.
25-year-old Alan Garcia of Richmond and 32-year-old Mateo Calvillo of South San Francisco were both arrested.
Thursday Garcia and Calvillo made their first court appearance, police said.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Garcia with:
- Attempted murder
- Shooting into an occupied vehicle
- Possession of cocaine for sale
- 7 felony enhancement charges
Calvillo was charged with:
- Attempted murder
- Shooting into an occupied vehicle
- 2 felony enhancement charges
