Pleasanton school placed on lock-down during search for armed man

PLEASANTON (BCN)–  A Pleasanton elementary school was briefly locked down Wednesday afternoon as police searched for a man who brandished a knife at his mother, a police lieutenant said.

The man’s mother reported at about 1:15 p.m. that her son, identified as 27-year-old Christopher Kliment, had pulled out a knife and threatened to kill his parents, police Lt. Jim Knox said.

Kliment’s mother said that her son ran away from the home just off of Foothill Road near Lydiksen Elementary School,

The man was possibly under the influence of drugs, the mother told police.

Since he was last seen in the area of the elementary school at 7700 Highland Oaks Drive, police put the school on lockdown as a precaution to keep the students inside safe, Knox said.

The suspect was eventually found on the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station platform and arrested, Knox said. Two people, including the man’s mother, confirmed the man’s identity.

The lockdown was lifted by about 2 p.m., according to police.

The knife Kliment had pulled was found at the home. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of brandishing a weapon and making criminal threats, police said.
