ANTIOCH (BCN) — A report from a pizza delivery driver claiming he was held up at knifepoint Wednesday night turned out to be false, a police lieutenant said today.
Officers responded to a report at about 6:30 p.m. from a 19-year-old man who told police three men robbed him at knifepoint in the 4500 block of Delta Fair Boulevard, Antioch police Lt. Tom Fuhrmann said.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage and discovered that someone had indeed stolen money from the delivery driver, but Fuhrmann said that was after the driver left his car unlocked during a delivery run.
“He made up that story (about the robbery) after someone stole the pizza company’s money out of the car,” Fuhrmann said.
The 19-year-old employee was cited and released for making a false police report.
