PACIFICA (KRON) — The City of Pacifica is facing yet another spot of coastline erosion.

Another section of the seawall on Beach Boulevard has collapsed.

“The new surface opening measures 25 feet long by 3 feet wide by 4 feet deep,” City Manager Lorie Tinfow said. “The good news is that the sea wall below the surface opening appears to re

main intact.”

From the street level, it just looks like a sinkhole in the road near Paloma Avenue but the erosion is underneath. Just two blocks away, a larger section of the seawall gave way last month.

And further north, an apartment building sits precariously on a cliff. All of its residents were forced to move out last week.

On Jan. 25, the City Council confirmed the state of local emergency due to damage sustained by city infrastructure.

The city said El Nino storms damaged the Pacifica Pier, the Milagra Watershed Outfall, and the sea wall along Beach Boulevard.

The second sinkhole is just two blocks north of the first one at the intersection of Paloma Avenue, Tinfow said.
