CONCORD (KRON)—An Concord police officer helped save a hawk after a resident noticed the bird was not able to fly Thursday.
The resident saw the hawk on Elkwood Drive and noticed it was in distress, according to the Concord Police Department.
The police officer contained the bird and put it in his patrol car after the resident told him about the incident.
The hawk was taken to the hospital at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek, police said.
The bird is a juvenile Red Tailed Hawk, according to veterinarians. The hawk has parasites, is malnourished and injured his wrist.
The hawk is being treated by staff.
