SOUTH BAY (KRON) — Pacific Gas and Electric officials are continuing to try and restore service this morning to customers in the Bay Area without power, according to a PG&E spokesman.
74 customers in Gilroy and 26 customers in San Jose were without power as of 5:20 a.m., according to PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said.
Additionally, 225 customers in parts of the East Bay, including Danville, Walnut Creek and Brentwood, are without power, Guidi said.
The outages began at about 5:30 p.m. on Monday and are due to a heat-related equipment failure.
The heat-related outages had initially affected about 9,500 customers in the Bay Area.
Crews hope to have power fully restored by 10 a.m.
PG&E confirmed that about 45,000 customers lost power last night in the East Bay.
We are investigating the outage affecting approx. 45k #EastBay customers. We’re working safely & as quickly as possible to restore power.

Much of the outage is in the north part of the East Bay, from Berkeley to Richmond.
In Berkeley, the lights are out at several intersections.
PG&E has not said what caused this outage.
Earlier in the day about 10,000 customers were without power in the south bay and Dublin areas. PG&E said that those outages were caused by the heat.
