(KRON)—A new Halloween attraction at Great America and Knott’s Berry Farm has been pulled after some mental health advocates said it was insensitive to the mentally ill.
Now, more than 3,000 people have signed a petition to re-open it.
The ride initially was called Fear VR: 51-50.
VR for virtual reality and 51-50 is the penal code number involving mentally ill people.
People are strapped in and they could end it if things get too intense with a panic button.
A new Change.org petition asks Knott’s Berry Farm and its corporate owner to reinstate the ride.
The petition argues the story involves possession not mental illness and says the critics haven’t even experienced the attraction.
No word yet if any theme park will bring back the ride.
