A motorcyclist is in stable, yet serious condition after crashing his motorcycle in an apparent DUI Monday in Petaluma, according to Petaluma PD.
Around 6:05 p.m. police responded to reports of an accident in the 400 block of Hopper St.
Officers found 30-year-old Hank LaFranchi of Petaluma with major injuries and rushed him to Memorial Hospital.
Due to the severity of LaFranchi’s injuries, the Petaluma PD Traffic Team was called out to investigate.
After examining the area and talking to witnesses, Investigators believe LaFranchi was speedign northbound on Hopper St. and was unable to make a turn in the road.
They believe as a result, he went off the road, struck a utility box and railraod tracks, and landed in a fied.
“It also appears the driver was not wearing a helmet,” police said.
Hopper Street was closed for approximately 4 hours, while the Traffic Team investigated the collision.
Authorities say LaFranchi smelled of alcohol and officers took a blood test.
“As of this morning he was in stable condition with major head injuries at Memorial Hospital,” police said. “If anyone witnessed the collision, please contact Traffic Officer Mike Pierre at 707-778-4372.”
