PETALUMA (KRON) — Petaluma police have arrested a 38-year-old man accused of sex crimes against a 16-year-old, according to Lt. Danny Fish.

Police said they got a call about a sexual assault on the teen on Aug. 1. They identified the suspect as Brett Aaron Niebergall.

The alleged incident happened on Jul. 30.

Police said the teen met Niebergall on social media. They eventually agreed to meet in person, Fish said.

The two then met at Niebergall’s Petaluma home on Sixth Street, according to police. During the meeting, the victim said he or she was drugged and then sexually assaulted by the suspect, according to police.

Niebergall was arrested at his home on Tuesday. Police also collected evidence at his home.

The suspect was booked into jail on $330,000 bail. Niebergall posted bail and has been released.
