PETA billboard to honor cows killed in crash near McFarland

The animal rights group, PETA, plans to put up a billboard near the scene where 28 pregnant dairy cows were killed in a crash near McFarland.

Those cows were being driven to Chicago on March 13 when their trailer got stuck on the tracks at Highway 43 and Pond Road.

A freight train traveling close to top speed couldn’t stop in time and hit the trailer.

About two dozen of the pregnant cows were severely injured in the crash and had to be put down. Only eight of the 36 cows survived.

The animal rights group will put a billboard in that area which will read: “Not you mom? Not your milk! Choose vegan.”

PETA is the acronym for the group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
