LIVERMORE (KRON) — It seems that not only do people behave badly on land, they also behave badly on water.

It was a busy Memorial Day for the East Bay Regional Parks Police who spent the day trying to keep people safe on Lake Del Valle.

Police stopped one family from taking an infant on an inflatable boat. While that is not dangerous, it’s what the little infant was wearing that caught the eye of police. The baby was wearing a life jacket intended for a two-year-old.

Even if babies are big for their age, using a life jacket meant for a toddler won’t work for an infant because the toddler life jackets don’t have floatation to support someone who can’t support their own head.

Along with safety violations, police also caught some boaters out fishing without a proper permit.

Lake Del Valle is stocked with about 100 pounds of rainbow trout every few months. The money for that comes directly from fishing licenses and permits.

The law no longer requires people to post their fishing licenses, but they must have it on them.

The laws for the lake often change from year to year, so it’s always a good idea to check with law enforcement.

Otherwise, you could be the person behaving badly.
