OAKLAND (KRON) — April is Distracted Driving Awareness month.

Last week, KRON’s Stanley Roberts took his camera to East Palo Alto. Now, he is on Interstate 80.

Stanley is riding with Ofc. Goldstein of the Oakland area office of the California Highway Patrol, looking for distracted drivers.

Among the violations–talking on your phone while driving. And no, you can’t hold your phone even if you are using it as a GPS device.

Ignoring the hands-free law could cost you at least $161.
