The San Francisco pedicab driver that was injured in a hit and run crash last month has died, according to San Francisco General Hospital.

On June 27, a car struck a pedicab as he was traveling southbound on the Embarcadero near Sansome Street.

The pedicab driver Kevin Manning was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The hospital says he passed away Monday night at 7:30 p.m.

Four other people riding in pedicabs, including two children ages 5 and 8, were injured in the crash.

The hit-and-run driver sped off. Police are still looking for the vehicle–a gold or champagne colored, four-door Honda Civic.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Manning.

Here is a statement from SFMTA:

“We express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Kevin Manning, who died today from injuries he suffered from a hit-and-run collision late last month. Safety is one of the city’s top priorities, which is why San Francisco adopted a Vision Zero policy in 2014, with the goal of eliminating all traffic deaths. We are committed to working with our partners to help make streets like The Embarcadero safer, while continuing to educate everyone who uses our roads on traffic safety, enforcing traffic laws and prioritizing resources to implement initiatives that save lives.

We plan to announce a final design, including a two-way protected bikeway, for the Embarcadero this Fall. In the meantime we are working with all Embarcadero stakeholders to capture their input in the final design, so we can proceed with environmental review beginning this Fall.

To more immediately address the safety issues on this high injury corridor, the SFMTA will fund and implement near-term safety improvements along The Embarcadero and will be working with our city partners to make the corridor safer for all road users.”
