ALBANY (KRON) — A pedestrian was killed in a collision Monday Morning on Interstate Highway 580 in Albany, according to officials with the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported shortly before 4:30 a.m. on westbound Highway 580 just west of the Buchanan Street onramp, CHP said.
A traffic alert was issued at 5:14 a.m. when CHP officers blocked highway lanes in the area of the crash.
The eastbound I-80 ramp to WB I-580 has been closed.
CHP officials estimate that the ramp will reopen at around 9:30 a.m.
The pedestrian was struck by at least one vehicle but most likely by several. No one has reported striking the person.
CHP officials ask that if you were driving in the area at around 4:30 a.m. to give them a call.
There is no evidence that the person struck had an car nearby.
