OAKLAND (KRON) — A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate Highway 880 near Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood Tuesday morning, California Highway Patrol officers said.
At about 2:23 a.m., dispatchers received multiple calls reporting that a pedestrian had been hit on northbound I-880, just north of the Coliseum Way onramp.
The driver then called CHP to report that he had struck this pedestrian before pulling over and waiting for officers to arrive.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Alameda County coroner is set to arrive shortly, CHP officers said.
