SAN RAFAEL (KRON) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in downtown San Rafael on Thursday afternoon, according to police Lt. Dan Fink.

Fink said it happened at around 1:15 p.m. at Third and Hetherton streets.

Hetherton Street is closed between Third Street and the southbound U.S. Highway 101 on-ramp, and other roads in the area will be closed for an extended period of time, Fink said. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
