PETALUMA (KRON) – A pedestrian was hospitalized after being hit by a truck in Petaluma Wednesday morning, police said.

A woman was hit at 6:26 a.m. at the intersection of Petaluma Boulevard North and Sycamore Lane, according to police.

The 31-year-old pedestrian stepped into the roadway from the northwest curb when a 1995 green Nissan pickup truck traveling south on Petaluma Boulevard North struck her, police said.

A 19-year-old Santa Rosa man was driving the Nissan.

The man said he pressed his brake before he hit the woman. He remained at the scene and police said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The woman was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with head trauma and potential internal injuries. Police did not immediately release her condition.

The Nissan driver said there was a big-rig in the lane to the left of him at the time of the collision.

Anyone with information about the big-rig or who might have witnessed the collision is asked to call police Officer Matt Frick at (707) 778-4372.
