MONTEREY COUNTY (BCN) — A 36-year-old man died near Greenfield in Monterey County on
Saturday night when he crossed northbound U.S. Highway 101 on foot and was
struck by an SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Around 11 p.m., the 36-year-old Soledad man was driving a Honda
Accord north on Highway 101 north of Hudson Road where he lost control of his
vehicle, CHP officials said.
The vehicle crossed the center divider and onto the southbound
lanes of the highway, according to the CHP.
CHP officials did not say how fast the man was driving.
The man parked the Honda on the right shoulder of southbound
Highway 101 and walked across to the northbound lanes where he was struck by
the SUV, according to the CHP.
The driver of the SUV was not injured in the collision, CHP
officials said.
The identity of the man is being withheld until his family has
been notified.
