SAN LEANDRO (KRON) — An unattended candle was the cause of a house fire Wednesday night in San Leandro, officials say.
The Alameda County Fire Department responded around 4:30 p.m. yesterday to the home on the 1500 block of Valley Street. Firefighters were able to rescue a parrot named Carla and a pug named Nina from the blaze.
A neighbor sustained minor injuries from the fire.
