VALLEJO (KRON) — Wednesday afternoon, Vallejo City Unified School District superintendent, Dr. Ramona Bishop once again dodged questions from KRON 4, this time as she was walking into a school board meeting.
In recent weeks, several violent events have renewed safety concerns for some parents.
In May, 17-year-old Max Rusk was murdered on a trail just outside his school, Jesse Bethel High School. Then, there was a brawl at Vallejo High School involving more than 50 people. There was also a fight between a pair of middle school students that was also caught on video.
These incidents have some community members asking whether the district and Bishop herself are doing enough to keep kids safe.
The recent problems have led to tension between the district and some parents.
During Wednesday’s meeting, Superintendent Bishop received her annual performance review and the public was given a change to speak. Some had positive remarks for Bishop, but many had negative comments about her performance.
