PALO ALTO (KRON) — A Palo Alto High School science teacher suffered severe burns when a science experiment went wrong this afternoon.
The Palo Alto Fire Department responded to an emergency call around 11:23 a.m.
According to officials, 18 percent of the teacher’s body is covered in first and second degree burns. The teacher was transported to the hospital where they are being treated by burn specialists.
According to fire fighters the classroom wasn’t badly damaged, with just a few papers burned on a desk.
Investigators are looking into what went awry. No students were injured in the incident.
