PALO ALTO (KRON) — A suspect brandished a pellet gun and knife at an apartment complex manager on Friday, then fired the weapon at construction workers. No one was injured, police arrested the suspect without incident, according to police officials Monday.

On Friday, April 1, 2016, at about 12:57 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report from Palo Alto Place, an apartment complex at 565 Arastradero Road, of a resident with a gun who had threatened to shoot people.

Police arrived on scene a short time later, and safely detained the suspect in his apartment without incident, according to police officials.

The investigation revealed that the suspect had entered the office and complained about noise from construction at the complex.

The apartment manage, said the suspect had then produced what appeared a black semi-automatic handgun and a knife from his pockets, and pointed both of them at him.

The suspect told the manager he was going to shoot someone and left. The manager immediately called police.

Police located four construction workers in the area. Two of them, both men in their 40s, reported that the suspect had approached them and brandished what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun. Two others, a man in his thirties and a man in his twenties, were both working on scaffolding when they heard the sounds of something striking plastic sheeting around them. They did not know what it was.

A review of video surveillance footage showed that the suspect had pointed the weapon at the latter two men and fired multiple pellets at them. Neither man was struck, according to police officials.

Officers recovered a black pellet gun from the suspect’s apartment. The weapon was a realistic-looking replica of a semi-automatic pistol. Officers also located an eight-inch knife with a four-inch blade near where the suspect fired on the construction workers, according to police officials.
