PALO ALTO (KRON) — Police in Palo Alto are searching for a suspected intruder who they say walked into a woman’s bedroom, turned off the lights, sat down next to her and tried to start a conversation.
The ordeal began just before 4 a.m. Sunday when Palo Alto police were contacted by two women in their 20s who said a man entered their apartment on the 3900 block of El Camino Real.
The women told police the man entered one of the victim’s bedrooms while she was studying. The suspected intruder was wearing gloves and holding a flashlight. The woman told police the suspect then turned off the lights in the bedroom, sat down next to her on the bed and began talking to her.
The woman left the room to find her roommate.
The suspect then left the apartment, according to police.
Police say neither of the woman were harmed during the encounter. Nothing was stolen from the apartment either, police said.
The suspect’s motive is unknown, according to police, though he’s believed to have entered the apartment through an unlocked door.
The alleged intruder is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-30s, 5-foot-8-inches tall and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
Those with information on the incident or the suspect’s identity are asked to contact the Palo Alto Police Department at 650-329-2413.
