PALO ALTO (KRON) — Two movie theater employees were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night in Palo Alto after the theater closed, police said.
The employees called 911 around 10:05 p.m. to report an armed robbery at the CineArts theater at Palo Alto Square at 3000 El Camino Real, according to police.
Two men entered the theater and one pointed a gun at an employee, a man in his late teens. A second suspect pointed a gun at the head of another employee, a woman in her 20s.
The suspects took the employee’s cellphones and demanded to be taken to the theater’s safe, police said.
The suspects fled when they saw that little money was easily accessible, according to police.
All of the patrons of the theater had left before the robbery and the doors were unlocked and open.
Police are describing one suspect as a skinny Hispanic man in his 20s who is about 5 feet 8 inches tall. The other suspect is being described as a skinny black man in his 20s who is about 6 feet tall.
Both men were wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black pants, black gloves and black masks. The mask of one of the suspects was similar to an athletic training mask, according to police.
The suspects used black semi-automatic handguns during the robbery. Police said no surveillance video of the incident exists and no sketches of the suspects are immediately available.
